8th Grade - Art Deco Cardboard Relief

8th graders learned about the Art Deco style of the 1920s and the stylistic elements that define it. They then had to use those elements to create a design. They made sketches of different ideas and then made a final sketch of their choice. Students had to figure out how to turn their designs into multi-layered reliefs. Each layer would be made out of cardboard and then stacked on top of one another to create a sense of depth. Students painted each layer with a dark color and then used metallic paint markers to add lines.
