9th Grade Ceramics Coil Vase

The coil-building technique can be tricky to lock down, but my 9th graders persevered and made some truly incredible vases. These coil vases were built by students hand-rolling out long ribbons of clay and then stacking them on top of each other. Students had to get really good at the score and slip attaching method. They then had the opportunity to decide if they wanted to blend their coils together or not. The final requirement of this project was to have the coils change direction in some way.
